So I have been trying a lot new things during this crazy quarantine time. I normally drink a coffee like beverage called Mochatonix, that also has natural ingredients to boost your metabolism. Buttttttt....I do like to indulge in a Starbuck's cold foam cold brew from time to time because I am a human....I have needs. The beautiful Starbuck's cold brew that my heart desires is about 30 grams of sugar in a Grande drink....you heard me folks- not the bucket size, the normal size. If you love going to Starbucks, I highly suggest never looking into the nutritional facts. Anyways....I saw the Didgeridoo coffee somewhere (Dalgona...same same). I thought it was interesting and looked delicious, so why not? What else could I possibly be doing on this 867th day of quarantine? First, I wanted to know why it's called Dalgona. If you care to know too, read on. (If you don't care- skip to the next paragraph) In January, South Korean actor Jung Il-Woo, tried the popular Asian whipped drink, and gave it the nickname Dalgona for its resemblance to the traditional Korean sponge candy of the same name. Interesting huh? Never would I have cared about the origin of a coffee drink in January- boy times are strange 😳
Annnnyways- I decided to try it. Its VERY easy to make. Just equal parts instant coffee, sugar, and hot water. Then poured over milk or cream. Most recipes I saw were 2tbsp of each, but I tried with 1tbsp of each too and it worked just fine! After trying it the first time poured over cashew milk, I decided to make a cashew cream the second time. Cashew Cream is very easy- just a handful of cashews, some warm water, and a blender. My ONLY suggestion is to not make the Dalgona coffee with one of those small coffee frothers....see picture below to understand why. Nothing like making a mess like this with a tiny tyrant of a human screaming at you to go play with "babies" (Barbies) 😳 Immersion blenders are the best tool to use, I didn't have much luck with the blender. It tasted okaaaaay...but I don't plan on making it again. It was VERY strong & very sweet. If you are using the 2tbsp of each, its 25g of sugar for one drink, you're welcome.. Anyone else try this? Is it worth it? I’m going to say no 😂 I would love to hear your stories! Happy Quarantining everyone!
